Commitment issues?

A one-off pottery class in Christchurch is perfect for those looking for a one of activity and get a taste of pottery without committing to a long-term course. This will give you an idea if throwing on the wheel is something you want to learn prior to committing to a 6 weeks course. Ideal for beginners, this class allows you to spend the afternoon with a friend, a loved one, or even by yourself. Led by an instructor, you will learn the basics of working with clay and receive helpful tips and tricks.

During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to create a bowl, tumbler, or vase. And the best part is that you can make multiple pieces! At the end of the session, you can choose three pieces to be glazed and fired. So, embrace the messiness and enjoy the unique experience of throwing on a potter's wheel! We will fire 4 pieces for free and additional piece will cost $10 extra.
This workshop is focused on the experience, not your final pieces. So just chill and remember that all potter's start as a beginner and often we don't see the stack of failed pots behind all the perfect ones we see at markets or studios. Be kind to yourself and others and focus on the fun experience of throwing with clay!

Class is minimum of 2 and maximum class size is 8.

Our class includes: clay, tools, clear glaze, firing & instruction. All you have to bring is your creativity!

Logistics:
We will begin with a demonstration on how to throw on the potter's wheel, then we'll get right to it! Throwing can be a bit hard at first, so go with the flow of the clay and enjoy the experience of getting behind a potter's wheel! Students are responsible for clean-up at end of class.

Glaze
Our staff will clear glaze your pieces and have them ready for pickup in roughly 3-4 weeks. We will message you when its ready for pick up.

Please read our FAQ prior to booking. Please note that we do not offer refunds, rebook if you are unable to make your class.
