The next Red Hot Fibre community workshop is “Paper from the Dunes” with artist Lesa Hepburn on Saturday 13th and Monday 15th of January 2023 at the Gasworks Museum.

Lesa Hepburn will guide this workshop and introduce participants to creative papermaking techniques with prepared marram grass as a locally collected plant fibre, including watermarks, inlays and inclusions. The workshop will demonstrate preparation techniques, introduce ideas about repurposing invasive plant species and waste materials and enable participants to make their own papers for both practical and artistic outcomes.

The workshops are generously supported by the CNZ Creative Communities Scheme.

Red Hot Fibre also acknowledges the support of Tomahawk-Smails Beach Care Trust for the workshops and for the marram grass used in these workshops.

Dates: Saturday 13 January 2024 and Monday 15 January 2024
Times: 10am to 12 noon and 1pm to 3pm
Place: Gasworks Museum, 20 Braemar Street, South Dunedin
Prices: $20 per person; $10 participants aged 12 to 17 years old.
Numbers: Up to 10 people (ages 12 and older) in each workshop.
