Starting from and ending at the beautiful Victoria Esplanade in Palmerston North City, this walk travels along and over the Manawatu River, through native bush in Bledisloe Park and up several steep climbs. This walk will take you through a number of small reserves, and you’ll experience great views across the city, out to the Tararua and Ruahine Ranges, to Massey University and our beautiful surrounding countryside. Added attractions will be views of the recently constructed Stairs of Lindos now known as Te Arapiki a Tane.

We can also view the New Star Path lights which are set out in a Kowhaiwhai pattern along the Bridle Track. This design will also feature on the Sunday evening walk which will depart from the He Ara Kotahi Bridge. We will use some of the new tracks brought about by the construction of the new walkway bridge He Ara Kotahi, with many stopping points across a variety of bush and valley walkways. You will have time to learn more about the areas and enjoy the scenery, making this a very rewarding walk.
Please bring adequate snacks and drink, and ensure you are wearing appropriate footwear.
A vehicle will be available to carry water and extra clothing. This will intersect with the tracks at several different points during the walk and may be used if required to provide transportation in the case of injury.

OPTIONAL: After this walk, there is the opportunity to visit the Wildbase Recovery Centre and enjoy a rest, some conversation and a refreshment at the Esplanade Café. Wildbase Recovery Centre care’s for NZ wildlife rehabilitate from illness and injury. A gold coin donation to Wildbase would be appreciated.
