Not all sewing is in the making. Whether you are new to sewing or have been sewing for some time, there are always new tips and time-saving tricks to learn (such as how to unpick overlocking efficiently). Step away from the sewing machine and learn some invaluable information on equipment, fabric, patterns and sewing.

Description
What is the value of a reef knot, a watercolour pencil, a chopstick and a small rectangle of white paper to sewing? How do you unpick straight stitch and overlocking quickly, cleanly and efficiently? Which are the best sharpest cheapest fabric cutting scissors and pins to use? All will be revealed in this sewing expert’s knowledge-sharing talk.

Note: This is not a hands-on sewing course, but rather a talk and demonstration outlining all the tips and tricks our expert has for you.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:

Have increased general sewing knowledge.
Understand the value of assembling the best and most appropriate tools for sewing
Understand the role of appropriate fabric to the successful outcome of a sewing project.
Recognise the importance of correct grainline placement in laying out pattern pieces (on fabric)
Cut pieces out efficiently and prepare for sewing

Note: Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel. We'll let you know by email so please check yours regularly. If you need to cancel your registration, here are our terms and conditions: "What You Need to Know".

Prerequisites
Some sewing experience and understanding of sewing terminology would be helpful.
