Ever wanted to be an Event Flair showgirl?
This gender inclusive 1.5hr workshop will take you through the basics of meet/greet performances including posture, poise, how to move around a performance space, guest photos as well as learning a short dance routine in the style. Yes, you’ll get to wear the headpieces too!
If you are wanting to get a taste of working in corporate entertainment, this is the workshop for you.
This workshop is for dancers at intermediate level and above, so prior dance experience is required. Please email info@eventflair.co.nz for more information.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Theresa Murphy - Creative Director at Event Flair
Theresa has had an extensive creative career working as a professional performer - teaching workshops in Singapore, directing a musical in the Solomon Islands, and creating and performing for her own company Event Flair - creating memorable and unique entertainment experiences with one of their most recent crowds being 50,000 in size.
In 2023 alone she worked for international artist Doja Cat, was the lead dancer in a performance at NZ’s largest indoor venue, and made international dancesport finals in Melbourne.
QUICK FACTS
This workshop is for dancers 14 years and older with dance experience (as we’ll be learning routines above beginner level).
Although “showgirl” the name does lend to the idea that this workshop is only for girls, it is actually gender inclusive - if you are happy to learn some Vegas style routines and wear heels, you are so welcome in this space.
Heels are required - cabaret or latin preferred, otherwise heels no higher than 3" that have straps/will stay secure to your foot. If you’re not able to wear heels, jazz shoes are a great option.
People who are looking to work or are already working commercially as a dancer will both benefit from this workshop, learning from many tutors is important to refine and maintain your craft, plus you never know - we might be on the look out for new recruits!
