Our fantastic staff member Cher has some awesome skills when it comes to extending life of clothing!

She will take you through you a selection of some amazing visible mending techniques, i.e.: sashiko, needle felting, slow stitching, and embroidery.

Come and join our 2-hour workshop and enjoy this mindful activity that helps you to be in the moment, have fun and stops your clothing from ending up in the landfill!

What to bring: Hand sewing needles, suggested threads: cotton, mending wool, sashiko/embroidery threads, clothes to mend, assorted scraps of fabric.

We will provide extra threads and fabrics if you don't have any in your craft stash.

Age restriction: 14+

Booking is essential as there are limited spots available! Parking is limited at the site, so we suggest that participants walk, cycle, catch a bus (there is a nearby bus stop), or carpool to the Recovery Park.

Please email: denisa.kolo@islandwasecollective.co.nz to secure your spot!

This workshop is brought to you by the Island Waste Collective and is part of the “Mend It” March series.

This event is part of EcoFest, an annual month-long festival taking place Saturday 18 March – Sunday 16 April 2023. EcoMatters, Kaipātiki Project, Beautification Trust and Waiheke Resources Trust are teaming up to collectively showcase all that Tāmaki Makaurau has to offer in the sustainability space.
