Volcanic Epic MTB Stage Race

The Volcanic Epic is a unique mountain bike stage race, held across 200km’s of New Zealand’s spectacular North Island geothermal region.

Riders compete in either the two- or four-stage events, across a range of age and speciality categories. Each day involves riding a different point-to-point course in Rotorua, Taupō and Tokoroa.

The day concludes with beers, burgers and beats. The chill post-ride vibe is the ideal place to meet and make friends and regale fellow riders with the day’s adventures over a cold drink.

The Volcanic Epic delivers in its name with truly special, curated courses for mountain bikers by mountain bikers. Compete across private and managed land usually closed to cyclists, and see sites of epic eruptions, navigate through epic steam clouds and past geysers heated by liquid rock not far below where your tread meets the trail.
