This special edition of the cycleways tour, led by experienced cycle skills instructors from Pedal Ready, will guide participants from the waterfront through new cycling infrastructure including Newtown and Kilbirnie, and will end at Shelly Bay. This is a great opportunity to build confidence to travel around the city safely and efficiently by paihikara (bike), and also an excellent option to travel to the Shelly Play event happening at the same time!

No paihikara? No worries! Thanks to Switched on Bikes and Greater Wellington Regional Council you can borrow one for free. Please select one of the 'Rental Bike' options when you book your spot. Only 10 spots available per session so get in quick!

At the end of the tour (please allow 2 hours), riders are invited to stay to enjoy the Shelly Play event. If you have rented a paihikara, it can either be left with the Switched On Bikes team at the event, or you can ride back to Switched On Bikes yourself, ensuring you have returned it before 5pm. Please note, Switched on Bikes will need to take down credit card details, however you will not be charged as long as you return the rental before 5pm.

We welcome anyone aged 13+ to join the tour. Anyone under 18 will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please note the minimum height for a rental paihikara is 150cm. These tours are suitable for people who know how to ride a paihikara, but would like to gain confidence.
