Experience the Firewood becoming Art at the West Auckland Woodturners Guild Open Day.
This free event is perfect for the whole family. Witness skilled woodturners in action, try your hand at pyrography and purchase high-quality woodwork.
The West Auckland Woodturners Guild is a charity that is committed to preserving, teaching and promoting heritage woodworking techniques. Established in 1983 and based in Sunnyvale, we are one of four woodturning clubs in the Auckland region. Our members primarily use wood that would have otherwise been used as firewood, mulched, or dumped to create useful items and works of art.
You can create a name tag or Easter decoration using pyrography, which is the technique of engraving and shading images on wood using heat. Please note that for pyrography participation, an age limit of 10+ years with parental supervision will apply, and a gold coin koha will be requested to cover costs.
Light refreshments will be available for sale.
