UK chart-topping rockers Arctic Monkeys have now sold out their headline show at Auckland’s Powerstation on Friday 15 January.
The Sheffield quartet is one of the headline acts at the Big Day Out at Mt Smart Stadium the following day.
Promoter Campbell Smith says that Monkeys fans who missed out on tickets will do better to look to the Big Day Out for a chance to see the group than beg for Powerstation tickets on trademe.
“You can see the Arctic Monkeys with another 55 acts at the Big Day Out, including 21 international artists,” said Smith today.
In the current concert climate, tickets for a single international act can be upwards of $150 according to Smith.
“To see the Arctic Monkeys alongside a superstar like Neil Young and a smorgasbord of incredible music and fun still makes the Big Day Out almost unbelievably good value for money,” bellowed Smith, tapping furiously on an adding machine before holding it up to his ear and screaming “Hello? Hello?”
He may not quite have a handle on whether he’s holding a calculator or an i-phone in his hand, but you have to concede that Smith makes a valid point.
The average price of a Big Day Out artist is a mere $2.23 plus booking fee. So buy the lot from Ticketmaster now while you still can. And please make sure you look good on the dance-floor. We have standards to maintain.
Over and out.
