The Chainsmokers, creator of viral song #Selfie will be performing one show in Auckland as part of their Australasian tour.
The DJ duo from New York have been making waves since they started making music together in 2012, but it was their 2014 single #Selfie that brought them world-wide attention. Noticing the huge increase in the popularity of selfies, the Chainsmokers created their single as a parody of selfie culture based on people they saw at their own club gigs. DJ Steve Aoki of Dim Mak records heard the song, and enlisted some celebrity friends including Snoop Dogg and David Hasselhoff to help out with the music video, which subsequently became a viral hit, now with over 100 million views on Youtube.
