The Gipsy Kings are due to perform in New Zealand for the first time as part of their 25th anniversary tour.
The Flamenco rumba group from the south of France have scheduled concerts for Auckland and Wellington in April, ahead of their appearance at the Byron Bay Blues Festival.
In the 25 years since their formation, The Gipsy Kings have sold 25 million albums, thanks to their hit songs ‘Djobi Djoba’, ‘Baila Me’, ‘Bamboléo’, ‘Volare’, ‘Tu Quieres Volver’ and ‘Vamos A Bailar’. Their latest album Savor Flamenco won the 2013 Grammy award for Best World Music Album.
Uniting the family Reyes, sons of the legendary Flamenco singer Jose Reyes and the family Baliardo, sons of the legendary million record selling Flamenco guitar player Manitas de Plata, the band continues with Lead vocalist Nicolas Reyes and lead guitarist Tonino Baliardo who have lead The Gipsy Kings since the beginning.
Tickets are on sale from Tuesday 11th November at 9am.
