Due to extraordinary demand for tickets to Pop-up Globe’s 2017 season of Shakespeare, the promoters have announced that 24 new shows have gone on sale.
This means that fans will now be able to secure the very best seats to the four new productions -- Much Ado About Nothing, Henry V, Othello and As You Like It – to the world’s first temporary working replica of Shakespeare’s theatre, the second Globe.
Today is also significant in that Pop-up Globe has started to rise out of the ground. After two weeks of earthworks at Pop-up Globe's new location at Shakespeare Gardens in Ellerslie Racecourse, the three-storey project is starting to take shape. With over 90 people involved in the project, Pop-up Globe is one of the greatest success stories in New Zealand theatre history.
Season 1 saw over 100,000 tickets sold and Season 2 is on track to do even more and the theatre will be even more spectacular, featuring a Jacobean-style stage front, hand-painted ceiling, and a new, larger stage.
