The Cancer Society's free Living Well programme offers practical ways of living well, building knowledge, self-confidence and self-help skills wherever you are in your cancer journey.
It is a programme suitable for anyone with any type and stage of cancer, as well as their carer or significant supporter such as a spouse, partner, family member or friend.
Participants from Matamata, Morrinsville, Paeroa and surrounds are also welcome.
Living Well is run by our specially trained supportive care nurse with expert speakers from a variety of backgrounds and professions. Each course is tailored to meet the specific needs of the group.
Topics include:
- Understanding cancer
- Managing the side-effects of cancer treatment
- Nutrition
- Relaxation and stress management
- Looking after yourself
- Communication
Participants of the programme often report feeling less anxious and better informed after attending, gaining information and support by identifying concerns and knowing who to contact. One of the most valuable things about the Living Well programme is the contact you have with the other people in the group who are going through similar experiences to yourself. A light lunch is also provided.
For more information or to register, contact supportive care nurse Penny Parsons on 027 684 0004 or email PennyParsons@cancersociety.org.nz.
