"We had a superb Xmas – stockings – a tree, decorations, crackers, puddin’, drink – most potent and plentiful–parcels pouring in and out… Oh, I did love it so–loved everybody. They were all fluttering and twinkling like candles in the darkest, most mysterious Tree of all." - Katherine Mansfield to Dorothy Brett, 1 January 1919
Join us for an evening of Christmas music performed by Georgia Jamieson Emms with Hugh McMillan on the piano.
As well as some classic Victorian Christmas carols and music inspired by Christmases Mansfield spent in Germany and France, there will be a few Christmas favourites for an old-fashioned singalong and musings on Christmas from Mansfield’s journals and letters.
Georgia is a classical soprano who worked as a professional singer in Germany before coming home to found Wanderlust Theatre, a touring opera company. Hugh is a full-time musician, accompanist, piano/theory teacher and musical director. Hugh and Georgia have a decade-long history of musical collaboration.
We’ll have popular items from the Katherine Mansfield House & Garden shop for sale so you can even fit in some last-minute Christmas shopping!
