Session 1: The new response from English Artists to landscape after WW1 is both interesting and varied. The artists studied will be Paul and John Nash, Ivon Hitchens, Claire Leighton (printmaker), Christopher Wood, Cedric Morris, John Piper and Graham Sutherland.

Session 2: Post World War Two. Britain was financially exhausted but determined to build out of the ruins of Hitler’s aerial bombing campaign. Coventry Cathedral became that phoenix in the public imagination as did rebuilding housing for those displaced from their city and suburban dwellings.

Coventry was remarkable and in many respects recaptured the pooled collective skills of the sorts of community of builders and artists who gathered together to build Cathedrals in Medieval times.

Linda is a passionate art historian and lecturer who loves to share her knowledge and enthuse others.
