Arjuna Oakes

Arjuna Oakes is a 20-year-old singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Auckland, New Zealand. Currently based in Wellington, despite his young age, Arjuna has already been performing for over 14 years.

Influenced and inspired by a continuum of music stretching through classic jazz and soul, vintage folk, disco, and boogie, to the more contemporary end of hip-hop and beats, he creates songs which, while imbued with a seeking, exploratory impulse, never loses sight of the dancefloor or the power of melody.

Thematically speaking, Arjuna’s music digs deep, investigating mental health issues, human relationships and behaviour, climate change and sustainable living. Marrying considered sentiments with an energetic vibe, his live performances overflow with creativity, improvisation and audience engagement.
