Awesome Fun Jazz Night and Jam

The second in a series of jazz concerts and jazz jam sessions hosted by Andy Christiansen and Mike Jensen at Kapiti Coast's home of music, the Raumati Social Club.

For the first half, our resident house band, "The RSC Quintet" featuring the uber-talented, Jake Baxendale (alto sax), jazz legend, Nik Van Dijk (piano), Raumati locals, Andy Christiansen (trumpet), and Mike Jensen (drums) will be joined by master musician and all round top bloke, Paul Dyne (upright bass) to present Clifford Brown and Max Roach's classic album from 1955, "Study in Brown".

Clifford Brown and Max Roach are both legendary jazz musicians and instigators of the hard bop tradition. The Clifford Brown and Max Roach Quintet was described as the "definitive" jazz quintet. They produced several albums in a short span which was cut short by the tragic death of Brown in a car accident.

Following this we'll have an open jazz jam session where we'll invite musicians up to come have a play with the band, so dust off your standards chops and come have a jam!

Entry is by Koha, and the excellent team at Raumati Social Club will be on hand to take care of your hunger and thirst. All welcome, come have a listen, enjoy the food, the music and the hang!
