The Classical Jazz Quartet make a welcome return to the Thomas Brown Gallery, bringing a timeless collection of classics and infusing them with toe tapping rhythms and jazzy harmonies.

Inspired by Jaques Loussier to blend their musical worlds, three jazz musicians and classical violinist Cathy Irons perform familiar and famous works by Bach, Vivaldi and Sarasate, interspersed with popular numbers such as Chaplin's "Smile" and Jacob Gade's "Jealousy."

With informative and engaging commentary, music chosen to make you smile and an intimate setting with vibrant oil paintings, it's all set for an enjoyable evening ahead.

Limited door sales available (cash only).
Ticket price includes complimentary refreshments.

The idea for the Classical Jazz Quartet began when Cathy and Barry were on the West Coast preparing for a Baroque Concert performance. Having a little time on their hands, they started to improvise on their carefully rehearsed repertoire, and have never looked back since. Now CJQ consists of four outstanding professional Christchurch-based musicians: Cathy Irons (violin), Barry Brinson (piano), Michael Davis (bass) and Doug Brush (drums). Each a recognised musician in their own field, the four musicians revel in getting together, ignoring convention and freely cross the boundaries of music with conviction and delight. All have extensive NZ and international experience.

Supported by the Central Lakes Trust and Thomas Brown Gallery.
