Do you love to play around with craft? Do you want to tackle the serious theme of modern feminism with some fun and humour? Come and join us for a day, where we explore how craft and feminism can combine.

We will use knitting and other techniques to play around with important ideas as well as hear from some prominent artists working in this field. After lunch we’ll recraft your old discarded bound book with feminism themes, and crochet flowers to add to one artist’s growing banner.

Lucy Gray, Kay O’Connor and Diane McCarthy invite you to a day of fun where we use our craft skills to play around with feminist ideas in creative ways. Lucy Gray is a PSA activist, who is the curator of Banna, a co-constructed banner for pay equity; Kay O’Connor is a counselor and enthusiastic traveler in Celtic tradition; Diane McCarthy is a writer, performance poet, and the project manager of Kate Sheppard Celebration Tours.

Please note that the price includes $10 towards the costs of materials.

Workshop checklist:
Please bring: old wool, with suitable knitting needles and crochet hooks (if you have them); one old hardback book that you no longer read; your own lunch (tea, coffee and morning tea provided) and your sense of humour!
