A discussion for artists and teachers curious about working together.

Artist Gabby O’Connor leads a discussion on possible approaches to the recently announced Creatives in Schools funding opportunity. She will present examples of successful artist-in-schools projects she’s participated in and explore how to work across the curriculum toward a range of outcomes.

City Gallery Educators will discuss how the Gallery is a community learning space and how our LEOTC programmes can be integrated with potential Creatives in Schools programmes.

Applications for the new Creatives in Schools programme (run by the Ministry of Education) are now open, for delivery in 2020. The first round of applications is due 1 November. If you’re interested in applying for this round, or in the future, this session is designed to support you.

Refreshments will be served.
This is a free event, but booking is essential. Book now.

Presented in partnership with Wellington City Council.

Gabby O’Connor is an artist, researcher, educator, and PhD candidate. Her art practice operates across multiple disciplines and audiences, and frequently involves collaboration and co-creation with primary-school students, communities, and scientists. In twelve recent projects, she worked with over 5,000 students in over fifty workshops and schools. Her current research uses art as a delivery system for climate-change and marine-science research.
