Gisborne Airport once known as Darton Field was home for the RNZAF’s ultimate WWII fighter, the P40 Kittyhawk.
The Tairāwhiti Aviation Museum is bringing the iconic Kittyhawk back to Gisborne this January. It will roar through the skies along with the whole Roaring 40s Harvard display team, an RNZAF Texan 2 and an awe-inspiring range of vintage aircraft for a thrilling afternoon of fun.
Between flying there are displays from vintage military vehicles, firing of WW1 and WW2 artillery, music, pipe bands, food kids bouncy castle face painting and generally a fun day environment.
