‘Funk Fresh’ – Kerb One Exhibition 2019

’Is stand close graffiti that invites you to view the detail—bold graffiti design while intricately subtle’.

Kerb One is one of the most well-known graffiti artists from the streets of Wellington. He is Newtown born and raised, and has been Djing music and creating art for the past 30 years through his involvement in the culture of Hip Hop. ‘Funky Fresh’ is an exhibition which is all in the name—it’s freestyle original Hip Hop/ Graffiti/Newtown inspired designs and illustrations.

From Kerb: “Everything is 99% freestyled, I didn’t draw up an idea and paint it...I just went straight onto the surfaces and got inspiration from the process itself.” Kerb has enjoyed this process and is keen to push boundaries in the future.

Kerb views ‘Funk Fresh’ as a community based exhibition. “An opportunity for someone to pick up a piece of original street art-inspired work from a vetern of the culture and the community—Newtown is a huge part of my inspiration—I feel supported here.” - Kerb One

Recent exhibition by Kerb One are:
Blueprint – Black Coffee Cafe 2016
Pop Up Shop Kerb One exhibition 2018
KerbOne exhibition – Baobob Cafe 2019
