A celebration of Scandinavian music awaits… Let your ears explore the music of Niels Gade, Jacob Gade, Stenhammer, Sibelius, Grieg and Taube in the talented hands of Catrin Johnsson (mezzo) and Rachel Fuller (piano), and Gemma Lee (piano) and Dr Charlotte Francis (violin).

We are supremely lucky to be hosting musicians of such calibre at Danish House, where these artists have so kindly offered us a smorgasbord of Scandinavian music to celebrate the completion of the concert hall's new baby-grand piano stage and the launching of Danish House as a concert venue.

Both New Zealand university graduates who have performed extensively within NZ and overseas, Gemma Lee and Dr Charlotte Francis are a truly world-class duo who we are privileged to have on our shores.

They will be bringing some Danish tunes to Danish House, namely the Violin Sonata No. 2, Op 21 by Niels Gade, and the Jealousy Tango by Jacob Gade - arranged by Victor Ambroise. These pieces are a rarity to hear in New Zealand, so let your ears venture into a new and exciting musical realm with these two amazing musicians.

Bringing us Stenhammer, Sibelius, Grieg and Taube are the phenomenal duo that is ARAM award-winning Swedish mezzo soprano Catrin Johnsson who is accompanied by leading New Zealand pianist Rachel Fuller. Between them they have performed with some of the world’s foremost opera companies, and they will be serenading us with a repertoire inspired by Catrin’s homeland.

Don’t miss out on this amazing once in a lifetime concert which is being performed exclusively at Danish House! Be sure to bring your friends and family to enjoy this musical experience together and a scrumptious afternoon tea included in your ticket price to boot.

Tickets can be purchased at the door, but can also be purchased in advance from gilderdaleclan@gmail.com with payment to ASB 123 036067 153900 - 1st ref your name, 2nd Ref Soc2403.

Concert begins at 2pm with afternoon tea to follow.
