Jacobean Stage Combat: Term 2 Course

Weekly Term 2 Stage Combat Course for 15 - 18 yr olds

Ever wanted to fight like they do on stage at Pop-up Globe? This ten week course for 15-18 year olds will teach the basics of stage combat to build your skills as a Jacobean stage fighter, and arm you with the tools you need to deliver a safe and effective stage fight.

This course is taught by Pop-up Globe’s Head of Stage Combat and Special Effects Alexander Holloway who has choreographed all of Pop-up Globe’s fights for the stage including the first ever duel as seen in Hamlet.

Information about our facilitator

Alexander Holloway is the Head of Stage Combat and Special Effects at Pop-up Globe. When he's not choreographing stage combat for the Pop-up Globe stage, Alex's time is spent running the New Zealand Stage Combat School, a company he founded to deliver top quality training to performers and stage combat enthusiasts alike. After completing his BA HONS at East 15 drama school, Alexander worked on the West End and in London as a professional fight choreographer and or fighter for many years.

Inspired by great films like Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit Alexander moved to New Zealand to share his expertise in Stage Combat and Alexander now teaches at some of the best theatres and drama schools in New Zealand.
