Be prepared for some great entertainment with Miho’s Jazz Orchestra and then Brilleaux playing their style of Rhythm & Blues.
Miho Wada is shaping up to become one of the most engaging jazz acts in New Zealand and along with her very cool little orchestra will be heading to Katikati this summer. Miho was born in Tokyo and grew up by the sea before moving to Christchurch to complete her Bachelor of Music degree. She then moved to London for further study at the Trinity College of Music.
Miho's performing career has since taken her on numerous international tours, recording sessions, and live radio and television performances. She formed Miho’s Jazz Orchestra (MJO), in 2011 which has been described as one of the most entertaining jazz acts in New Zealand. They have released six albums and are sure to be a favourite. With her mix of kooky, cute and tough-girl style, this Japanese-born, Auckland based musician is a live music marvel.
Also appearing at this concert is Brilleaux, a group formed in Tauranga in 1999 who are a firm favourite on the New Zealand festival circuit. They are a high energy act who play a mixture of contemporary and classic British R&B inspired music. A typical set by Brilleaux goes from 0 to 100mph in the first 10 seconds!
No deep and meaningful lyrics, no slow renditions of traditional blues classics, just fun, fast and furious tongue in cheek British style R&B as interpreted by a bunch of Kiwis. Brilleaux are Graham Clark (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, harmonica) Bruce Roland (lead guitar) Brian Franks (bass guitar) Ian Gilpin (drums) and together they have recorded 9 albums of high energy, sweaty rock n roll, hard and fast R & B with screaming harmonica and first class showmanship.
Don’t miss what will be a great evening in the Haiku Reserve, Katikati.
Come on down to the beautiful Haiku Reserve in the Katikati Township for a great night of entertainment. Gates open at 5pm.
Music starts at 6pm. Tickets $25pp at the gate with kids under 15 free with an adult. Bring a deck chair and your favourite picnic snacks for some great family entertainment. If it’s wet the concert will be held the following day.
