The much-loved Lines of Flight festival of experimental music is back again.

Lines of Flight is New Zealand’s longest running experimental music festival, and over its eighteen year existence has showcased many of this country’s most critically acclaimed sonic adventurers.
First held in 2000 in conjunction with the first Dunedin Fringe Festival and including a 2012 one-off in post-quake Christchurch, the biennial Lines of Flight festival of experimental music celebrates its eleventh season in 2019.

The music extends across a wide range of established genres, eg improvisation, rock, jazz, noise, folk and electronic, but the performers have a common approach to pushing musical boundaries.

The festival will comprise four shows, to be held at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery and the Port Chalmers Pioneer Hall. Each show will have separate musical acts, with many accompanied by projected experimental films. The 2019 lineup features a mix of local, national, and international performers.
