Mary Potter Hospice Street Appeal 2019

We’ll be out on the streets of Wellington, Porirua and Kapiti on Friday 17 May and Saturday 18 May for our 2019 Annual Appeal. Please donate when you see us - every dollar helps keep our services free. If you don't have cash, we'll have Eftpos at some locations, or you can donate via our website.

This year we need to fundraise more than $7 million to keep our services free. We depend on our community, as only half of our required funding comes from Government.

We’re here to provide compassionate and quality hospice care for the terminally ill and their families/whānau in our community – free of charge. Mary Potter Hospice has a twelve-bed Inpatient Unit in Newtown, and community bases in Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti which provide Day Hospice services and community support. On any given day, we have over 250 patients in our service and care for about 900 patients and their families/whānau each year.

Most of our patients choose to stay at home, so that’s where our teams of community doctors, nurses, counsellors and therapists provide their care. Each year, demand for our services increases so we really need your support to be able to continue providing our free palliative care services for generations to come.

This year we’re celebrating 40 years with you. Because it’s thanks to you, and the continued support of our community, that we’re able to provide our services for free. Whether you’re donating in memory of a loved one, in appreciation of hospice care, or simply because you believe in the work we do – thank you. It’s people like you that make our work possible.
