Newstead Walkway with Outdoor Kid

Murky swamps and towering eucalyptus trees will delight little explorers.

This glade is surrounded by some of the tallest eucalyptus trees in New Zealand.

Kids can cuddle their massive trunks, clamber over fallen trees - see if you can spot the camouflaged stick insects - or explore the forest huts.

From Vaile Road the path is flanked by farms before the path drops down to a boardwalk that crosses a murky swamp covered with entangled vines before arriving at the clearing.

Accessibility: Bring the buggies and bikes on the well graded paths.

Important: Recommend bring insect repellent. There are some active biters by the swamp.
