The choir of Napier's Waiapu Cathedral will travel to Wairoa to sing in St. Paul’s Anglican Church at the morning service and then perform a concert that afternoon. This is the first time the choir has visited Wairoa and the group is excited to be supporting the church’s Patronal Festival.
The choir’s Musical Director, Anthony Tattersall, has chosen a program of favourite choral music ranging from 16th Century motets by Byrd and Tallis, lovely arrangements of familiar hymns by John Rutter, te reo compositions by local musicians Ian Render and Richard Puanaki, and including some well-known Spirituals too.
A special treat will be solos by choir members Richard Harris and 15 year old Charlotte Tattersall. There is no entry charge for this concert, but a koha retiring collection will be made to support the work of the church.
