Mozart may have written some of the world's finest music but his reputation for ill-temper is legendary, and the diminutive Schubert was arrested by the Austrian police, on suspicion of revolutionary activities. And Wagner, full of passion, had a life of exile and poverty. If it is true that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, then such men were surely the better for their troubles.

Be immersed in the music of these great composers – the much loved ‘Haffner’ Symphony, and the mysterious ‘Unfinished’ Symphony’ will be performed by Opus Orchestra along with Ross Harris ‘Lucerne’, originally commissioned by Peter and Kathryn Walls for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra 2010, and re-scored especially for this concert.

Symphony No. 35 in D, K.385 (‘Haffner’) Mozart
Lucerne (Wagner) Ross Harris
Symphony No. 8 in B Minor (‘Unfinished’) Schubert
