For the second concert of Norma the Dunedin Town Hall organ’s 100th anniversary year we welcome Wellington-based English organist Tom Chatterton. He will open his programme with a variety of music by English composers William Walton, Edward Elgar and Herbert Howells, celebrating the organ’s English heritage.
He will also perform two works by Dunedin composer Anthony Ritchie, and will conclude with French 19th-century composer Alexandre Guilmant’s 5th Sonata.
Tom Chatterton studied at Cambridge University, where he was an Organ Scholar, and has performed at many prestigious venues including Notre Dame Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and St Thomas’ Fifth Avenue in New York. He is now Head of Music and Performing Arts at Chilton St James School in Wellington, and organist at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Wellington.
