So you have an idea, some words, or even a final draft for your great New Zealand book. What do you do now? How do you know if it’s any good? Should you get an agent? Do you even need a publisher? How do you self-publish? What about Amazon? Can you crowd-fund your book? What are the options for marketing and distribution? What’s the best advice, right now? Come along and ask the experts: Mary McCallum (Mākaro Press, The Cuba Press), Sophie Siers (Millwood Press), Kevin Chapman (Upstart Press) and panel chair, Claire Murdoch (Head of Publishing at Penguin Random House NZ). At the start of the session we will pass around a kete for written questions for the panellists to respond to, so come prepared!

This is an event involved in the Featherston Booktown Festival on Friday 10th, Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th May celebrating everything to do with books, writers and reading. The three-day programme includes writing workshops; poetry readings; talks by leading authors and illustrators; and a book fair including stalls with rare and second-hand books. There are also events specifically for children.

Take a look at our website for the full programme of events.
