Speaker Martin Manning’s career in science started with a PhD in Theoretical Physics obtained at McMaster University in 1967 and has broadened over the years to cover climate change and the treatment of uncertainties in science.

Martin has worked in several countries but spent most of his life in New Zealand where he led research on greenhouse gases, atmospheric chemistry, and other aspects of climate change science over thirty years. Martin was a Director of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change when it won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

In 2008, Martin became an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to climate change science. He is an adjunct Professor at Victoria University in Wellington, and a Kapiti resident working on options for the Coast’s Long-Term Plan when he’s not taking photographs.

Hawke's Bay Sea of Faith is pleased to welcome Martin Manning.
