Part of Conservation Week 2019 - conservationweek.org.nz

We have a special collaborative rangatahi exhibition being held at the Te Kōputu a Te Whanga a Toi, Whakatane Library and Exhibition Centre from September 14th until October 13th.

In Te Reo Māori rākau translates to tree and mano translates to a thousand or more. This exhibition looks to push the thoughts of our rangatahi about how they see their current environment in 50 years’ time. We will have an empty treescape illustration on the wall and some tree illustrations on tables to colour in and to put their aspirations on the backside of the tree to then populate the empty treescape.

In return for their efforts, they will receive a packet of kowhai seeds to plant their own trees at home (while stocks last). If rangatahi are feeling super creative and would like to express themselves through letters, a poster, quotes or a short story we could also hang those up in that area!

Exhibition opening times:
Monday - Friday: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Saturday- Sunday: 10:00am - 2:00pm
