Ōruapaeroa/Travis Wetland is the last large freshwater wetland in Christchurch and an important habitat for native wetland plants and birds. It is also a living example of the power of community volunteering. The The Travis Wetland Trust works tirelessly for the protection of Christchurch’s largest freshwater wetland and have been running planting days in partnership with Trees for Canterbury for 19 years, with the support of Christchurch City Council.
