VOLUME

The 2019 Volume Mapua Literary Festival is a boutique literary festival featuring some of New Zealand’s best and most interesting writers. Organised by Volume, the 2018 New Zealand Bookshop of the Year, the festival continues the series of literary events held in Mapua to benefit the Mapua Community Library. All ticket sales benefit the library.

Lynn Jenner’s deeply thoughtful book, Peat, enlists the help of deceased cultural eminence Charles Brasch to explore the tensions between words and land, and between society and ecology, as a response to the recent development of the Kapiti Expressway, a so-called ‘Road of National Significance’.

Lynn Jenner is a writer and teacher of writing. She lives on the Kapiti coast. Her 2015 book, Lost and Gone Away, addresses issues of absence, both individual and communal.

Lynn will be talking with environmental planner and social scientist Charlotte Šunde.
