We constantly learn in our everyday lives in order to grow, thrive, adapt, and to change. Learning begins with both knowing and not knowing. Self-assessment is integral to and understanding the differences between what we know and don’t know.

Drawing on sociocultural views of learning, and findings from my research with children and tertiary learners, this lecture will explore the phenomena of learning and self-assessment. It examines what it means to learn in our complex world across time, space and place. It focuses on the importance of understanding learning in our everyday lives, and explains how fear of new activities, study, or everyday life limits our capacity to learn and, ultimately, to know ourselves.

Drinks and nibbles provided from 5pm.
