This is a wildlife photography workshop at the ZEALANDIA Eco-Sanctuary designed for young photographers from the Wellington region with award-winning photographer Richard Young.
You will learn how to shoot wildlife photography, particularly birds within this area of utopian bush. During the workshop, you will be guided in the techniques needed; given notes on this field of photography; recommended settings and how to single out a beautiful creature within the landscape.
We will start by meeting at the ZEALANDIA visitor centre to have an in-depth look at some of the best settings and skills to employ when shooting wildlife and bird photography. Once everyone is up to speed we will meander through pristine bush for the rest of the day, giving you ample opportunity to capture rare bird species including Kākā swooping overhead in their natural habitat.
Wildlife and more specifically bird photography require the use of long zoom lenses to enable you to pick out details of the birds themselves and make them your key subject as they fly close-up or far away. This workshop offers the opportunity to use the latest Tamron long zoom lenses, along with the trial use of Nikon bodies and lenses that are ideal for this area of photography.
This workshop is best suited for young people 15 – 24 years old.
This event is part of ZEALANDIA's Summer in the Sanctuary programme.
