Wayfinding Suite - Large ensemble jazz meditations on the immigrant experience: a jazz festival special brought to you by the Arthur Street Loft Orchestra concert series.

"Wayfinding" was written by Wellington bassist and composer Seth Boy as a project reflecting on his experience as an immigrant who has lived half his life in the Philippines and half in Aotearoa New Zealand. First debuted as part of the esteemed Arthur Street Loft Orchestra series, Seth and his twelve-piece ensemble are excited to re-present this concert at this year’s jazz festival. “Wayfinding” is a suite in five movements describing and exploring concepts central to the immigrant experience in New Zealand including displacement, movement, and struggles around the idea of home. This music is contemplative and emotive, grounded in the jazz tradition and inspired by Filipino folk music, and will be played by some of the city's leading musicians.
