Newcomers Night is a drop-in class held every Thursday evening where we rotate through some basic Buddhist ideas applicable to life in the 21st Century as well as teach our two main meditation practices, one to develop awareness the other to develop loving kindness. Each class is stand alone and no previous experience is necessary.

From 9 January to 30 January we'll be focusing on Meditation and Posture; these sessions are aimed at those with little or no meditation experience, perhaps wanting to re-learn; and to work on a more comfortable posture.

We teach two Buddhist meditation practices: Mindfulness of Breathing, for developing awareness, integration and clarity of mind; and Development of Loving Kindness (Mettā Bhāvanā) which brings about a gentle but radical transformation of our emotional world.

Jan 9 - “You can change your mind” - Mindfulness of Breathing meditation – working with hindrances to meditation
Jan 16 - “Engage your emotions” - Loving Kindness meditation – working in meditation
Jan 23* - “Creative v Reactive Mind” - Mindfulness of Breathing meditation – working in meditation
Jan 30* - "Rejoicing in Merit” - Loving Kindness meditation – working in meditation

*In the first half of the evenings of 23 and 30 January, Satyadevi an experienced meditation and Alexander Technique teacher will lead sessions on "working with body awareness and posture in meditation."

Entry by donation/koha.
