The First Light Wine & Food Festival is Gisborne’s pre-eminent wine event.

Held on Sunday of Labour Weekend (25 October 2020), the event brings wineries TW Wines, Matawhero Wines and Bridge Estate together for an amazing day of friends, fun, live music, great wines and superb food choices.

Chardonnay, Rose, Merlot, CV, Alberino, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewurtztraminer, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc and more.

Our food partners are all respected local foodies.
TW Wines has partnered with Flagship Cafe.
Matawhero Wines has partnered with Smokehouse Cuisine.
Bridge Estate has partnered with Reka Cuisine.

And don’t forget the complimentary bus service around the venues and wine region.
Buses pick you up at the i-site, then head around the venues and return in the evening.

Tickets
General Admission - $45 (+ booking fees) - includes complimentary bus service and souvenir wine glass.

There will be an information area at the entry of each venue for those who may have lost their ticket or who have other inquiries.

Bus Transfer Service
The bus service will be available from 11.30am – 2 pm from outside of the Gisborne i-SITE. You will need to show the bus driver your ticket for entry on to the bus. Please do not bring any alcohol or picnics on the bus or into the venues with you.

The first bus leaves the Gisborne i-site at 11.30am.
The buses will start returning to the i-site at 5 pm.

Your wristband will give you access to the bus service to get between the venues.

The venues are a picturesque 25-minute bus ride away from each other travelling through the beautiful Poverty Bay Flats area. We encourage you to enjoy the trip offered on one of the many buses on the route eliminating your need to have a vehicle at the event.

The bus service will circulate between the Matawhero, Bridge Estate and TW Wines all afternoon. Your wristband will give you access to the buses to get between the venues.

We retain the right to check any bag or person for restricted goods (see rules and conditions of entry).
This event is strictly an R18 event.

Beer will be available to purchase alongside our available award-winning wines at all venues.
There will be a range of non-alcoholic drinks available at each venue, as well as free tap water, and bottled water available for purchase.

The event is strictly R18 and ID will be asked upon entry and can be required to be presented again at the bar if necessary when purchasing alcohol. This includes babies.

Matawhero, Bridge Estate, and TW Wines are all licensed venues. Non-alcoholic drinks, water and food will be available at both venues to aid in responsible drinking.
Any intoxicated persons will be removed from the venue.

The First Light Wine and Food event is wheelchair friendly.

Intoxicated persons will be refused entry at all festival sites. Intoxicated persons will not be served alcohol. Spot checks of bags may be undertaken at the entry and exit points of each venue. Unauthorised food and drink will be confiscated. Alcohol cannot be taken in to or out of either venue. Alcohol is not permitted on buses.

Cash and Eftpos are both welcome at each venue.

The First Light Wine and Food event will not be cancelled unless in the event of National advice and guidelines. There is no postponement date. The event will continue in any weather.
