Lachie Hayes & The Roof Raisers

“Probably the South Island’s, greatest, pound for pound, singer and songwriter.” - Adam McGrath (The Eastern)

Lachie Hayes is a Southland born musician based in the Catlins, who plays a style of alternative, folk infused Blues inspired by friends, drinks, old movies, Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan and Robert Johnson. From childhood on a Catlins hill country sheep farm Lachie has learnt to play music of many varieties and has performed most of his life in bands, duos and as a solo artist across New Zealand educating himself in multiple styles, genres, and eras of music and developing a style of his own.

Hayes released an album in late 2017 entitled Where the Shadows Hang and in 2018 was awarded Southland Entertainer of the year, at the Southland entertainment awards, he also won Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. He has performed alongside such artists as Don Mcglashan, The Warratahs, Annah Mac, Thomas Oliver, Adam McGrath, Julia Deans, Paul Ubana Jones, Jenny Mitchell and more. You can download Lauchies Music through bandcamp.

Hoot - This tight 4-piece original blues band from Dunedin, is freshly cut food for the soul. Frontman and second generation blues singer Oscar LaDell expertly leads each tune with stirring, velvety vocals and dynamic lead guitar licks. Nestled right in there behind him is Ruairi Griffin’s shimmery rhythm guitar hooks, punctuated by Oliver Robson’s solid bass riffs and Rani Cohen’s funk infused drumming.

Hoot’s set rambles through songs of hardship and longing to hypnotic crescendos that work any audience into a fever. These boys really know how to howl. The band have three albums available through Bandcamp

Jo Little & Jared Smith - are a well known fixture of the Dunedin and wider Southern music scene. These veterans of the road have toured NZ and Aus many times over. With velvety harmonies and nostalgically crafted songs that dip their hand into a pick and mix bag of blues, alt-country, folk and soul.

This duo’s set ranges from foot stomping to heartbreaking. Whatever the mood, their catchy originals will hang in your head long after the last tune has rang out. Their album ‘Live at The Boathouse’ is available through Bandcamp.
