Dunedin/Wellington Indie-Jazz duo Karin Reid (voice) and Alex Wolken (guitar) present a special intimate concert of exploratory jazz-noir in the acoustically vibrant Robert Piggott Gallery space.
With material ranging from reworked modern jazz classics and expanded alt-pop from their Songs From Inside and Outside the Jazz Ouevre' project, through to newly developed originals and 'comprovisation', Reid and Wolken transport the listener through emotionally complex and subtly evocative musical terrain.
Intuitive interplay between Reid's sultry ethereal vocals and Wolken's intricate harmonically rich guitar work provide a structural rope to hold on to through the more expansive moments of this journey through the inner space of songs and compositions old and new.

Karin Reid is a vocalist noted for the hypnotising notes of her sultry and ethereal voice, her deep vocal tones expressing the darker side of the jazz tradition. Reid interprets and explores a range of classics from the swing, bebop, hardbop, cool and modern eras and ballads from the American Songbook.
Alex Wolken is a guitarist, composer and songwriter. As a guitarist his predominantly fingerstyle electric playing is rooted in modern jazz while drawing on elements of blues, dark psychedelia, free improvisation and more, with an emphasis on texture, tone, feel and harmony.
