I don't see any good sense in trying to formulate an explanation or rationale for the show, the content of the paintings or any lack thereof - painting is something of a compulsion, it's personal and sometimes it's a good idea to get it out of the studio.
The work doesn't have a particularly high purpose - it is a self-absorbed activity - but like a lot of crafters I do try to make things that "work" - maybe when it does work it does so as ornamentation, in my head anyway.
The work is possibly about, "about identity and memory," but I think that might be me coming up with a good idea after everything is done and dusted.
A thank you to Fane Flaws the show’s title and many kind words - naming can be a slippery business sometimes. All the work is from 2018 – an earlier show was delayed.
