Thirst for Knowledge: AI In the Post-pandemic Future

By 2019 it was obvious that AI was becoming more common and more important in almost all
industries and many aspects of daily life. Would this lead to a sleek, smart, AI-enhanced future
or alternatively, to soaring inequality, technological unemployment and ubiquitous surveillance?
The jury was out. And then the pandemic arrived. This month Professor James Maclaurin from the
Philosophy programme will present a preliminary assessment of the effects of the global health
crisis on the uptake and use of AI in the post-pandemic future.
