Windows to Wisdom Open Day

Have you ever thought about wisdom? For example, how many times have you wished you were wise before an event rather than after?

Wisdom is about insight, judgement, prudence, discernment and good sense. It's not something that is taught at schools - knowledge may be knowing what to say, but wisdom is knowing when to say it. Sound familiar? Too often we only use our brain (or Google!) and forget our heart, the seat of wisdom. There's an old saying: Always follow your heart but remember to bring your brain along! But how often do we do that? Does the state of the world reflect that?

Fortunately, wisdom is something we can learn about, and a good place to start is the Open Day on Sunday 8th March at the Cedric Alexander Hall at 5 Devonshire Place, Taradale. From 10 am to 4 pm there will be various talks on aspects of wisdom, free refreshments and a new lending library open to anyone to join. Make a note of the address - Einstein once said, 'The only thing that you absolutely have to know is the location of the library.' Perhaps he knew a thing or two!

Wisdom involves finding out about truth, about who we are – to quote Aristotle, ‘Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom’ – and about forgiveness and gratitude. It helps us moderate our emotions (always a good thing!) and think more from our heart, rather than our mobile phones! And that leads to less stress in our lives. Organised by the local Theosophical Society, the ‘Windows to Wisdom’ Open Day runs from 10am – 4 pm. Free talks and refreshments. 5 Devonshire Place is first left up Puketapu Road from McDonald’s roundabout in Taradale.
