Join Jeanette Trotman from the Tapestry Trust of New Zealand for a free public talk about the Trust’s goals and its big national project – New Zealand: A History in Stitch.

This project aims to produce a series of more than 100 stitched panels depicting the history of Aotearoa New Zealand, to be displayed around the country upon completion.

Jeanette will explain the process of designing a panel, and what happens to it once the embroidery is completed. She will look at eight of the 21 completed panels, sharing stories connected to what they depict. This includes the four panels on display at Te Manawa as part of the Town and Country Stitched exhibition (opens 28 August).

The talk takes place upstairs in the Art Gallery from 1-2pm on Sunday 29 August. Entry is free.
