Hollywood action hero Jefferson Steele arrives in England to play King Lear in Stratford – only to find that this is not the birthplace of the Bard, but a sleepy Suffolk village. And instead of Kenneth Branagh and Dame Judi Dench, the cast are a bunch of amateurs trying to save their theatre from developers.
Written by professional scriptwriters, Ian Hislop and Nick Newman, Havelock's version is co-directed by actor/director Peter Meikle and Gillian Edwards. Gillian is no stranger to the Havelock stage and this will be the second show that Peter has directed for Havelock and 153rd he has directed overall.
Bladen Wines are generously sponsoring the Gala Opening Night on Wednesday 20th January.

In Peter's words "The combination of the synergy of a struggling group of thespians and their courageous undertaking of ‘King Lear’ will ultimately be rewarding, fun and hugely satisfying for everyone involved - providing an audience experience which will enhance the local theatre scene immensely."
