Afflatus Ensemble

The year 2020 has forced the whole planet Earth into long uncertain periods of physical isolation and nationwide lockdowns due to the emergence of the novel-coronavirus “Covid-19” which caused the global pandemic. For months, bustling streets of world went silent and concert halls were empty. However, few countries including New Zealand have managed to keep the ‘Covid-19’ relatively contained and hence allowed performing arts to resume. It is during this time that conductor, Jason Bae founded the Afflatus Ensemble in 2021 with a single purpose to present music back to communities and concert halls with arising young talented musicians from New Zealand.

After the successful sold-out full house launching concert on January 2021, this will be the first Afflatus Ensemble Chamber Music Series where section principals of the ensemble will be performing two string quartets by Fanny Mendelssohn and Aleksandr Borodin.

Program

Fanny Mendelssohn - String Quartet in E flat major
Aleksandr Borodin - String Quartet No.2 in D

Zosia Herlihy-O'Brien, violin
Bryan Lin, violin
BYUN Haejean, viola
Vincent Chen, cello

Tickets:

Adults: $30
Students/Pensioners: $10

Due to the current New Zealand Government Covid-19 Alert Level 2, the concert will be limited only to 100 audience members with socially-distanced seating. We would like you to please wear the mask for the protection of fellow audience members and the musicians.
